Letter book, 1850-1853, of Peter Vivian Daniel, Jr. (1818-1889), of Richmond, Virginia. The letters chiefly reflect Daniel's work as an attorney, including his role in the sale of the Union Hotel property and as a trustee for the estate of R. H. Jenkins. Includes some references to his Richmond and Petersburg Railroad interests. Also includes some receipts and accounts for legal work performed. This collection is located on frames 330-628 of Misc. Biographical or historical data
Peter Vivian Daniel, Jr. (1818-1889), was the son of Peter Vivian Daniel (1784-1860) and Lucy Nelson Randolph (1788-1847) of Stafford County, Virginia. The younger Daniel became a lawyer and a civil engineer. He was president of the Richmond and Petersburg Railroad from 1843 to 1860, and of the Richmond, Fredericksburg and Potomac Railroad from 1860 to 1873. He married Mary Robertson (1815-1890) on 1 December 1846, and they had two children.
