Biographical or historical data
Wallace Buttrick was born 23 October 1853 in Potsdam, New York. He attended Ogdensburg Academy and Potsdam Normal School. He was a brakeman and a clerk on a railroad in New York, before entering the Rochester Theological Seminary from where he graduated in 1883. Buttrick served as a Baptist pastor in Connecticut, Minnesota, and New York. Buttrick served on the General Education Board, the China Medical Board, the International Education Board, International Health Board, and the Rockefeller Foundation. Buttrick married Isabella Allen 25 December 1875, and they had three children. He died 27 May 1926 in the Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland, and was buried in Scarsdale, New York.
