Biographical or historical data
John Gilliam was born 1742 at Monte Alto in Prince George County, Virginia, to John Gilliam (1712-1772) and Ann Bathurst Gilliam or Elizabeth Poythress. A successful planter, he established his home, Spring Hill, in Prince George County. Gilliam married Jane Henry and died in 1801 in Prince George County. An announcement from his son and executor Walter Boyd calling for accounts due on the estate to be submitted by January 1803 appeared in the REPUBLICAN AND PETERSBURG ADVERTISER 23 November 1802.
