Summary
This accession consists of two presentation drawings depicting differing designs for a reviewing stand to be placed in the rotunda of the Capitol at Richmond, Virginia. Two presentation drawings of colored pencil and graphite on heavy board. Also included is a copy of the 7 April 1937 meeting minutes of the Virginia Art Commission. The minutes discussing the proposed viewing platform. The purpose of the stand was to gain a clearer view of the George Washington statue by Jean Antoine Houdon and busts of famous Virginians recessed in niches around the room. The colored pencil drawings show both elevations and floor plans and are dated April 1937. The project was never executed
