Summary
  • These volumes are part of Auditor of Public Accounts. Office Records: Auditor's General Bookkeeping Records - Daybooks
  • Volumes contain records of receipts from taxes, fees, and fines, as they were entered each day, including names, dates, amounts, and sources of revenue. Entries were posted from the daybooks to journals until 30 September 1820, after which postings were made from the receipt daybooks directly to ledgers and the journal entries for receipts were discontinued. Volumes cover the period from 27 April 1791 to 30 September 1882. There is a gap in this series from 2 April to 30 September 1865
  • Prior to 1 January 1791 receipts and disbursements were entered in a single series of daybooks, but effective that date separate series were begun. For receipts, 1 January-26 April 1791, see the last volume in entry 34
  • Between 3 December 1793 and 2 April 1813 certain receipts were entered in a separate volume now filed at the end of this series. The purpose of this practice has not been determined; the types of entries made in the volume are identical to those made in the rest of the volumes in this series
