Biographical or historical data
William Harrison was born about 1762, probably in Mecklenburg County, Virginia. Early in the American Revolution, he joined the 3rd Virginia Regiment of the State Line as a substitute soldier. He then became a soldier in the 3rd Virginia Regiment. Harrison fought in the battles of Stoney Point, Monmouth, and Brandywine. Harrison went with his regiment to the South and was captured at Charles Town (Charleston), South Carolina. After his exchange, Harrison returned to the war, possibly serving with a North Carolina militia unit before rejoining the Continental Army. Harrison was wounded at the battle of Guilford Court House. After the Revolution, he settled in Buckingham County, Virginia and married Sina Wooten (ca. 1800-1876). Harrison died 22 Janaury 1849.
