Biographical or historical data
Robert Hales was born in Virginia in June 1826. He married Mary Virginia Eldridge and with her had several children. The family lived in Buckingham County, Virginia, where Hales worked as a physician. He lived until at least 1910, when he appeared on the census as a widower living in the household of his son, Peter.
