Biographical or historical data
John D. McGill (1806-1855) was born in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from the College of William and Mary and began practicing law in Middlesex County, Virginia, in 1826. McGill moved to King and Queen County, Virginia, and served for a time as Commonwealth's Attorney. In 1849 he moved to Kentucky where he was a trustee of the Covington Theological Institute.
