Biographical or historical data
Solomon Hoge was born in Fauquier County, Virginia on 18 October 1809. He moved west to Grundy County, Illinois with his brother William Hoge in 1831. He relocated back to Virginia, and was married for a second time to Sallie D. Bashaw on 17 September 1872. Following the death of his mother, Hoge returned to Illinois. He died on his farm in the town of Nettle Creek in Grundy County on 30 May 1892, and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
