Biographical or historical data
John Richards Edmunds was born in Halifax County, Virginia on 26 August 1812. He served in the House of Delegates from 1836 to 1863 and was also a member of the Convention of 1850-1851. Edmunds married Mildred Carrington Coles, the daughter of Isaac Coles, Sr., of Charlotte County. One of the Coles' plantation was referred to as "Spring Wood" and was located near Meadeville.
