St. Thomas' Episcopal Church was founded in 1887 in Berkley, Virginia. In 1923, St. Thomas' merged with another local church, St. Paul's Episcopal, to form St. Bride's Episcopal Church. In 1961, St. Bride's relocated to the now-extinct Norfolk County, in an area that has since become part of the City of Chesapeake.
