Biographical or historical data
Susan Prokop graduated from Washington-Lee High School in Arlington, Virginia, and attended the University of Virginia, from where she received an MPA in public administration. In the early 1980s she worked as a legislative aide for state Delegate James F. Almand (1948-), of Arlington (D). She later worked as a legislative aide for Congresswoman Marcy Kaptur (D-Ohio). Prokop became associate director for advocacy with the Paralyzed Veterans of America. She married Jim Turpin in 1998 and they own a winery in Nelson County, Virginia.
