Biographical or historical data
Philip Koontz (ca. 1837-1889) of Shenandoah County, Virginia, married Minerva Dovel (1838-1896) on 10 April 1856. She was the daughter of Daniel Dovel (1800-1867) and Eve Shular Dovel (d. 1867) of Rockingham County, Virginia. The Dovels were a prominent family in Rockingham County. Daniel Dovel and Eve Dovel had thirteen children.
