Biographical or historical data
Thornton Edlow White was born in Buckingham County, Virginia on 8 November 1919. He was the son of James Chapman White, Sr. (1891-1958) and Elsie Lambert Pickels (1897-1983). He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. On 25 April 1942, he married Elsie Lee (Haynes) Hicks. They resided in Richmond, where he was employed as a plumber with Philip Morris. Thornton Edlow White died on 2 June 1977 and is buried in Westhampton Memorial Park in Richmond.
