Biographical or historical data
St. Thomas' Parish was created in 1740 by the separation of St. Mark's Parish. St. Thomas' Church was built between 1833 and 1834 and is the only existing church modeled after a design by Thomas Jefferson. In the Civil War, the church served as a hospital during four different battles.
