Summary
Papers, 1915-1941, of Richard A. Goode (1894-1949) of Fauquier County, Virginia, arranged alphabetically into three folders: Correspondence, 1916-1941; Manuscript, 1918; and Miscellaneous, 1915-1929. The correspondence include a travel pass, letters to family members, and letters regarding Goode's dairy farm. Most of the correspondence was written to Goode's aunt and concern the French landscape and family issues. The manuscript, entitled "A.W.O.L. in Paris", consists of Goode's personal account of a trip to Paris in 1918. The account details the scenery, people, and adventures to evade the military police. Goode had left his military post without permission to go to Paris and the manuscript was written after the excursion while he was in Post Stockade of the U.S. Army Base in Epinal, France. Included in the miscellaneous file are postcards, clippings, receipts, photographs and booklets, including a guide to the Oceanographical Museum and Aquarium of Monaco
