In his diaries Latham mentions the Mexican War and election results

Biographical or historical data
Fayette M. Latham was born in Culpeper County, Virginia 15 December 1826. He became a successful lawyer practicing in Culpeper County. He and his wife Elizabeth (1833-1918) had thirteen children, only five of whom survived infancy. Latham died in Culpeper County 3 May 1885, and was buried in Fairview Cemetery.
