Summary
Letter, 4 March 1817, from John Randolph (1773-1833) to George Hannah (1780-1870) of Charlotte County, Virginia, stating that poor health had prevented his writing. Randolph's efforts with the War Office to settle several claims resulted in obtaining an amount due to Hannah for his baggage transportation. Randolph requests Hannah to present the note [not enclosed] to Captain Chesley Daniel (d. 1822) and Colonel Morris Hamner (d. ca. 1819), Hannah's neighbors; the memo on the back will enable them to forward the proper vouchers and receipts to Peter Hagner (1772-1850) to be paid from the Bank of Virginia. Hannah, Daniel, and Hagner served in the 26th Regiment, Brigade II, Division I from Charlotte County during the War of 1812.
