Daybook, 3 September 1860-5 December 1861, contains a daily record of receipts and expenditures in the college, including tuition, food, loans, etc

Biographical or historical data
The college was incorporated on Mar. 20, 1860. In 1858, the Western Virginia Baptist Association decided to establish a school in Greenbrier County, Virginia, to be called Alleghany High School. Its first catalog dated 1859/60 used the name Alleghany College. The county later became part of West Virginia.
