Eleanor Doughaday Hertle (d. 1929) of St. Louis, Missouri, married Louis Hertle (1860-1949) in 1914. They lived at "Gunston Hall" in Fairfax County, Virginia. She died in 1929. In her memory, Hertle donated the home of George Mason (1725-1792) to the Commonwealth of Virginia.
