Biographical or historical data
George Augustus Goodman (1828-1884) was a farmer and teacher in Louisa County, Virginia. He attended the Virginia Military Institute, graduating in 1852. He enlisted with the 13th Virginia Regiment, Company C, in 1861. Appointed lieutenant colonel in 1863, and commanded the regiment December 1862 to February 1863, and again from 31 May 1864 to 19 September 1864, after Colonel James Terrill's death. Wounded at the battle of Winchester (Va.) 19 September 1864 and taken prisoner to Ft. Delaware (Del.). Released 15 July 1865. After the war continued as a farmer in Louisa County (Va.).
