Biographical or historical data
Littleton Parish was created in 1772 from Southam Parish, which had covered the whole of Cumberland County. When Cumberland County was divided in 1777 to form Powhatan County, Southam Parish became part of the new county, leaving Littleton Parish to Cumberland County. In 1852 Littleton Parish was divided and Leighton Parish was formed. Littleton Parish ceased to exist in 1912 when it and Southam Parish were absorbed into Genito Parish.
