Biographical or historical data
Charles Higbee Bridges was born in Illinois in 1873. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point, New York, in 1897. He was commissioned a 2nd lieutenant in the military and served in the Spanish American War. He served in World War I. Bridges was promoted to brigadier general in 1927 and to major general in 1928. He served as the United States Adjutant General, retiring in 1933. Bridges died in Sandwich, Massachusetts, 11 September 1948, and was buried in Arlington National Cemetery.
