Biographical or historical data
St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Alexandria, Virginia was organized in late 1809 as a result of a division in the congregation of Christ Church, then known as The Episcopal Church. The cornerstone for the new church was laid in 1817. Benjamin Henry Latrobe was the architect. Since burials were not allowed within the town limits after January 1809, the church cemetery was located southwest of Alexandria.
