Biographical or historical data
John Alonza Edwards was born 8 October 1807 in Surry County, Virginia, to William Edwards (1780-1827) and Frances Green Seawell (d. 1857). He married Priscilla Frances Cornick Murray (d. 1863) 26 November 1845, and they had three children. Edwards and his wife lived in Norfolk, Norfolk County, and Nansemond County, Virginia. During the Civil War, Edwards worked in Richmond, Virginia. Edwards married second Nora Mosely in 1880, and they had no children. He died 17 January 1894 in Richmond, and was buried in Elmwood Cemetery in Norfolk.
