Davenport informing her that he has sent his final statement about her deceased husband to Richmond, Virginia, and explains how she can enter a claim for it

John F. Davenport was a soldier in Company G, 1st Battalion of the Alabama Legion which later became Company G, 23rd Battalion Alabama Sharpshooters. He served in the battalion's actions including Chickamauga and Drewry's Bluff, until killed during the siege of Petersburg, Virginia, in 1864.
