Mary D. Snapp was born in Grayson County, Virginia on 18 February 1830. She was the daughter of James Meek (1793-1822) and Jestianna (Justine) Dickenson (1802-1882). She married Phillip B. Snapp (b. ca. 1822) in Washington County, Virginia on 24 July 1849. He was a merchant in Abingdon. She died on 5 August 1886.
