Biographical or historical data
Edmund Wilcox Hubard was born on 20 February 1806. He attended Hampden-Sydney College and received a law degree from the University of Virginia. From 1841 to 1847, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives as a Democrat. He was a colonel of the 24th Virginia militia. During the Civil War, he was an appraiser of the Confederate Government to regulate the value of Confederate currency. Hubard married Sarah Ann Eppes (1820-1896) 26 November 1846, and they had 5 children. Hubard died 9 December 1878 in Buckingham County and was buried in the family cemetery.
