Biographical or historical data
John Davis Edens was born in Pickens, South Carolina, 12 April 1920. He graduated from Furman University in 1939. Edens received a bachelor and a master's of divinity degrees from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and was ordained a Baptist minister. He was pastor of Manassas Baptist Church from 1948 to 1959, and was director of missions for the Middle District Baptist Association from 1959 until his retirement in 1982. Edens was also a president of the Virginia Baptist Historical Society. Edens died in Richmond, Virginia, 25 October 1995.
