Papers, 1759-1864, collected by Pearl Read Fennell Southall (1901-1984) of New Kent County and Virginia Beach, Virginia, including survey for 87 acres for the Massie family, survey for 150 1/2 and 139 acres for Susan B. Royster, and plat for 58 acres for Gerrard Ellyson. Contains will, dated 23 March 1815, and codicil, dated 27 March 1815, of Philip Southall of New Kent County. Also includes transcript of a letter, dated 15 May 1864 from "A Lady of the Peninsula" to the editor of the Richmond Dispatch complaining of her treatment by Union soldiers

Pearl Read Fennell Southall was born 22 May 1901 in Wilmington, North Carolina. She married Lawrence Temple Southall (1896-1980) of New Kent County, Virginia, 20 June 1927. Southall died 24 October 1984 in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
