Deed, dated 4 May 1801, for the Albion Mills, believed to be in Henrico County, Virginia, from John Harvie (1747-1807) and his wife Margaret Harvie (1751-1825), to Henry Lee (1756-1818) of Westmoreland County, Corbin Griffin (ca. 1739-1813) of Yorktown, John Hopkins (d. 1827) of Richmond, Samuel Griffin Adams (1775-1821) of Botetourt County, John Banks (d. 1809) of Richmond, and John Harvie and Thomas Rutherford of Richmond, who were members of the Virginia Company. The recording of this document has not been located. As it recites parts of several instruments recorded in the General Court, it is likely that this deed was recorded there

Biographical or historical data
John Harvie was born 23 October 1747 to John Harvie (1706-1767) and Martha Gaines (d. 1802). He moved with his family to Albemarle County, Virginia, and became a lawyer. After the battle of Point Pleasant, Harvie was appointed a commissioner to the indians. He represented West Augusta County, Virginia, in the 2nd through 5th Virginia Conventions, and represented Albemarle County in the House of Delegates from 1777 to 1778. Harvie was elected to the Continental Congress in 1777 and signed the Articles of Confederation. Returning to Virginia after his term ended in 1778, Harvie became Virginia's purchasing agent. He was appointed registrar of the the land office in 1781 and served to 1791. After relocating to Richmond, Virginia, Harvie servied as mayor of Richmond from 1785 to 1786. He was a trustee of Richmond Academy and a director of the Bank of Virginia. Harvie lived at Belvidere in Henrico County, Virginia. He married Margaret Morton Jones (1751-1825), and they had 7 children. Harvie died in a fall from a ladder 6 February 1807.
