Letter, 14 October 1838, from Joseph Lloyd of Mount Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky, to "Jammy," his nephew. Apparently written at Jammy's request, the letter gives genealogical information on three generations of the Lloyd family, beginning with Joseph's father, John Lloyd (b. 1704). The elder Lloyd was born in London but emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland, in 1726. Subsequent generations settled in Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia

Biographical or historical data
Joseph Lloyd was born 16 December 1761, possibly in Baltimore, Maryland, the last of seven children born to John Lloyd (b. 1704) and Prudence Emrey. He married Fanny Brown, a sister-in-law of his brother George (b. 1758). Together they had at least four children, named Nancy, Patsy, Alcey, and John. As of 1838, Joseph Lloyd was living in Mount Washington, Bullitt County, Kentucky. The recipient of this letter, "Jammy," was Lloyd's nephew, the son of his brother Thomas (b. 1744) and Patience McCracken.
