Journal and account book, 1784-1818, of George Willis (1754-1827) of King William County, Virginia, and Wilkes County, Georgia, consisting of a brief account of his journey from King William County to Wilkes County including comments on expenses including ferriage, shoeing horses, meals, and tolls. Also includes descriptions of peach and apple orchards in Wilkes County, as well as a record of Willis' taxes owed for property in Wilkes County, and Clarke, Oglethorpe, and Randolph Counties, Georgia. Also includes accounts of monies owed to Willis and the foaling of horses. Journal also contains comments on the tobacco and corn grown on the plantation of James Dabney (1735-1805) in King William County, as well as livestock left there by Willis

Biographical or historical data
George Willis was born 15 October 1754 in King William County, Virginia. He served as a soldier in the Virginia troops during the American Revolution. In 1784, he left King William County and moved to Wilkes County, Georgia, where he became a successful planter. Willis married Susannah Baker (1757-1843) 19 October 1777, and they had seven children. Willis died in Wilkes County 19 April 1827.
