Biographical or historical data
Frederick William Pease was born 2 November 1859 probably in Charles City County, Virginia, to Frederick Hanson Pease (1827-1908) and Ruth McLees Pease (1835-1904). Pease worked as a river pilot for steamboats, before becoming the engineer at the lighthouse in West Point, Virginia. He married Jenny Goodman in 1881, and they had three children. Pease was killed by an engine in the lighthouse in West Point 19 March 1893.
