Biographical or historical data
Buffalo Presbyterian Church was believed to have been established around 1740 in what was then Amelia County. In 1753, it became part of Prince Edward County when that county was formed from Amelia County. This church was one of the six churches established in the area by the Reverend John Thomson and John Caldwell, who moved from Pennsylvania to Southside Virginia with Scotch-Irish Presbyterians in 1739.
