Biographical or historical data
Armistead Brown was born in Culpeper County, Virginia, 14 October 1787. He became a prosperous planter and built "La Grange," his home in 1824. That same year he married Mary A. B. Meridith (1801-1852) on 30 December. They had six children. Brown also served as a colonel in the militia. He died 4 September 1858, and is buried at "La Grange."
