He provides Micheaux with genealogical information on the Micheaux he located in South Carolina and mentions that many of the French in Manakin Town in Virginia moved to North Carolina. Major Micheaux may have been either Jacob Michaux (1770-1846) or William Walthall Michaux (1810-1881)

Biographical or historical data
Thomas Gaillard was born in Berkeley County, South Carolina, to Peter Gaillard and his wife. Gaillard lived at his father's plantations before moving to Alabama in 1832. He wrote histories of the Christian Church and the Reformation. Gaillard was working on a manuscript on the history of the Huguenots in the United States when he died.
