Biographical or historical data
Ira Brown was born in Almond, New York, on 2 April 1846, the son of John and Caroline Andrews Brown. He enlisted 15 September 1864 in Phelps, Ontario County, as a member of the 188th Regiment, New York Volunteers. He was discharged on 11 July 1865 in Rochester, New York. After the war he settled in Almond, Allegheny County, New York, and labored as a farmer.
