Biographical or historical data
William Hurt was the son of Benjamin Hurt, Jr., (ca. 1725-1781) by his first wife. He died in Hancock County, Georgia, in 1812. Benjamin Hurt (1759-1835) was the son of Benjamin Hurt, Jr.and his second wife Ann Hurt (d. 1818). He served as an officer in the Commissary Department in the army during the American Revolution. He married Frances Richeson 16 January 1795, and they had 4 children. After her death, he married Mary Stuart 13 November 1815, and they had 3 children. Benjamin Hurt died 27 July 1835.
