Biographical or historical data
Girard Estes Thompson was born 27 June 1876 in Charlotte County, Virginia. In 1898 he began work at S. J. Turner's drug store in Chatham, Pittsylvania County, Virginia; and became a register pharmacist in 1902. Thompson founded Thompson Drug Company in Chatham and upon his retirement, in 1962, his drug store was the oldest continuously operated business in Chatham. Thompson served on Chatham's town council and as chairman of the Pittsylvania Democratic Executive Committee. He died 25 May 1969.
