Biographical or historical data
Ralph H. Bader was born 8 June 1888 in McGaheysville, Rockingham County, Virginia, to Arthur Samuel Bader (1848-1933) and Margie Hadnek Bader (1865-1903). He attended the McGaheyville School, then Bridgewater, before earning his degree from Washington and Lee. In 1914, Bader began a career in the United States consular service. After eight years, he left the consular service in 1922. Bader attended the University of Richmond law school, then began practicing law in Harrisonburg, Virginia. Bader represented Rockingham County in the House of Delegates in the 1928 and the 1930 sessions. He married Pearl M. Bacon (d. 1921) in October 1920, and they had two sons. Bader died 7 June 1939 in Harrisonburg, and was buried in Mt. Olivet cemetery in McGaheysville.
