Summary
Letter, 14 January 1842, sent from Mathias Cleek (1771-1856) in Estillville, Scott County, Virginia, to James Greenlee (1769-1840) in Rockbridge County, Virginia, and concerning a past debt owed to the estate of Sophia Cleek (d. 1842). James Greenlee died in May 1840 and Mathias Cleek apparently did not know this when he wrote the letter; no information in either the Scott or Rockbridge County court records has been found yet to suggest that this debt was settled between the two estates
