Biographical or historical data
David W. Kennedy was born 8 January 1927 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. He began singing and dancing while a child and performed locally. Kennedy enlisted in the Navy in 1945, where he continued to perform. After his discharge, Kennedy continued dancing and singing in various shows across the country. Eventually settling down in Norfolk, Virginia, Kennedy became know as Dancing Dave, the tap dancing terror of Tidewater.
