Biographical or historical data
Letitia Preston was born on 29 September 1779 at "Smithfield," Montgomery County, Virginia. She was the sixth daughter of William Preston and Susanna Smith. She married John Floyd (1783-1837) on 13 May 1804 in Franklin County, Kentucky. He was a member of the Virginia General Assembly, U.S. House of Representatives (1817-1829), and Governor of Virginia (1830-1834). They had 12 children. Letitia Preston Floyd died on 13 December 1852 at Burke's Garden, Tazewell County, Virginia.
