Biographical or historical data
Herman Presbyterian Church was built in 1854 to accommodate members of Bethesda Presbyterian Church who lived far away. Bethesda Church was officially organized in 1834 and, for a long time, was a branch of Cub Creek Presbyterian Church. Both Herman and Bethesda congregations shared a minister. In 1875, the names was changed to Bethesda and Hermon Church. A subsequent decrease in Bethesda's membership, however, led to an abandonment of the old church building and a name change of the organized body to Hermon.
