Biographical or historical data
William Dibrell Jones was born in Buckingham County, Virginia, 20 August 1782 to Michael Jones (1750-1821) and Leanna Dibrell Jones (b. 1759). He served in the 1st Virginia Cavalry during the War of 1812. Jones became a prosperous planter and merchant in Buckingham County. He married wife Judith Baker LeGrand (1798-1884) 12 November 1817 in Prince Edward County, Virginia, and they had six children. Jones died either 30 June 1874 in Buckingham County and is buried in the family cemetery. Monroe Walker Jones was born 4 July 1820 to William D. and Judith B. Jones. he married Sarah Elizabeth Jones (d. 1859), and he died in 1858. Louis Dibrell LeGrand Jones was born 21 January 1837 to William D. Jones and Judith B. Jones. Louis Jones also became a merchant in Buckingham County. He married Louisa T. Flippen (1840-1915) January 1859, and they had fifteen children. Jones died 22 June 1911 and was buried in the family cemetery.
