Papers, 1772-1862, of the Walton family of Hanover and Louisa Counties, Virginia, consisting of accounts, bonds, correspondence, judicial records, powers of attorney, and wills relating to the estates of John Walton (d. 1772), John Walton (d. 1797), Mary Sims Walton (d. ca. 1807), and Mary Walton (d. 1813), as well as the wills of Joel Walton (d. 1840) and William Sims (d. ca. 1809). Also includes correspondence to members of the Walton family of Louisa County from relatives living in Mason, Oldham, and Todd Counties, Kentucky, and Franklin County, Missouri, including a letter from William Walton of Mason County concerning his military service during the War of 1812. Papers also contain two copies of a deed, 17 July 1815 and recorded 8 January 1816, for a tract of land in Louisa County from Frances Lipscomb to Nelson and Mary Lipscomb, and a statement of intention to marry Virginia Walton from C. Y. Nuckols to her father William J. Walton, all of Louisa County
