Will, 8 February 1857, of Henry A. Washington (1820-1858) of Williamsburg, Virginia, and containing two codicils dated 26 December 1857 and 27 January 1858. Will was probated in the Williamsburg and James City County Circuit Court 26 May 1858 and a copy made 24 July 1858 by the clerk of the Circuit Court. This copy was probated in the Dakota County, Minnesota, County Court 19 October 1858. The will book containing this instrument is no longer extant

Biographical or historical data
Henry Augustine Washington was born 24 August 1820 in Westmoreland County, Virginia, to Lawrence Washington and Sarah Tayloe Washington. He graduated from Princeton University in 1839, and studied law in Fredericksburg, Virginia. Washington became professor of history, political economy, and international law at the College of William and Mary. He edited eight volumes from the papers of Thomas Jefferson in 1853-1854. Washington married Cynthia Beverly Tucker (ca. 1832-1908) 8 July 1852 and they had two daughters, Lucy (d. 1854) and Sarah Augustine (d. 1862), who is mentioned in Henry Washington's will. Washington died in Washington D.C. 28 February 1858.
