Biographical or historical data
Daniel McCarty Fitzhugh Thornton was born on 10 November 1800. He was the son of Capt. Charles Thornton and Sarah Fitzhugh. He married (1) Susan F. Taliaferro on 1 September 1825 and (2) Mary Jackson Dade on 7 October 1845. He was a purser in the U.S. Navy. He died on 12 October 1865, and is buried in Florida.
