Biographical or historical data
William Hancock was born in Chesterfield County, Virginia on 20 October 1749 to Simon Hancock and Jane Flournoy Hancock. He was a resident of Bedford County, Virginia, and Adair County, Kentucky. Hancock married first Ann Hill 11 February 1772 in Chesterfield County, and they had thirteen children. He married second Mary Elizabeth Fisher Emerson in 1814 in Adair County, and they had three children. Hancock died 22 February 1837 in Adair County.
